Levenson Merilus, Firearms Offenses, Massachusetts 2019
BOSTON – A Randolph man pleaded guilty today in federal court to two firearms offenses.
Levenson Merilus, 28, of Randolph, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to deal in firearms without a license and one count of making false statements to acquire firearms from a licensed dealer.
U.S. District Court Judge Denise J. Casper scheduled sentencing for February 11, 2021, when Merilus is set to complete the RISE Program.
Between February and March 2019, Merilus conspired with a co-defendant to purchase firearms from a licensed dealer and re-sell them for profit to individuals in Boston. Specifically, Merilus purchased at least seven guns from a licensed dealer, falsely claiming to be purchasing them for himself.
The charge of conspiring to deal in firearms without a license provides for a sentence of up to five years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
The charge of making false statements to acquire firearms from a licensed dealer provides for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison, three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000.
Merilus is currently enrolled in the Court-run RISE (Repair, Invest, Succeed, Emerge) Program, which is designed to aid in the rehabilitation of applicable defendants who have pleaded guilty and are under pretrial supervision prior to sentencing.
