Lisandro Humberto Baires-Gomez, Illegal Reentry, Louisiana 2015

Lisandro Humberto Baires-Gomez, a 20-year-old citizen of El Salvador, has been sentenced to time served for illegally reentering the United States.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Baires-Gomez was found in the United States on November 17, 2014, after having been officially deported and removed on June 13, 2013.

Baires-Gomez pleaded guilty to a one-count Indictment for illegal reentry of a removed alien on January 27, 2015.

U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey accepted Baires-Gomez's guilty plea and sentenced him to time served, ordering him to serve one year of supervised release and pay a special assessment of $100.

Baires-Gomez will be surrendered to the custody of the U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement for removal proceedings.

U.S. Attorney Kenneth A. Polite commended the work of the United States Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Border Patrol in investigating this matter.

Assistant United States Attorney Spiro G. Latsis led the prosecution.

In the United States, a person found to be in the country after being deported or removed can face serious consequences, including imprisonment and fines.
