RICHMOND, Va. - A Hopewell man has been sentenced to nearly 15 years in prison for his role in a cocaine trafficking conspiracy. Lorenzo Coleman, 41, was the leader and organizer of a multi-defendant drug trafficking ring that distributed cocaine into Hopewell and the surrounding areas.

According to court documents, Coleman admitted that between 2013 and 2015, he conspired to distribute nearly 15 kilograms of cocaine. Coleman fled Virginia in July 2017, but was located by the U.S. Marshals Service last June and returned to Virginia.

As part of his plea, Coleman has agreed to forfeit the sum of $500,000, which represents the proceeds of the crime to which he has pleaded guilty. U.S. Attorney G. Zachary Terwilliger praised the work of law enforcement in the case, saying 'The sentence imposed today reflects the seriousness of the offense and the significant harm caused by Mr. Coleman's actions.'

The investigation was conducted by the FBI, DEA, and Hopewell Police Department. U.S. Marshals Service also assisted in Coleman's capture. Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela Mastandrea-Miller prosecuted the case.
