Rochester Man Pleads Guilty to Two Armed Robberies

A 25-year-old Rochester man has pleaded guilty to two counts of Hobbs Act Robbery, a federal crime that carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Malik Lott, 25, of Rochester, N.Y., entered a guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Elizabeth A. Wolford. The charges against Lott stem from two armed robberies that occurred in Rochester in 2018 and 2019.

The first robbery took place on December 28, 2018, at a McDonald's restaurant on East Avenue in Rochester. Lott and his co-defendants, Lavon Wims and Juwan Baldwin, entered the restaurant and demanded money from the employees at gunpoint. Lott displayed what appeared to be a handgun to another employee, while Wims held a knife to the throat of an employee.

The second robbery occurred on January 23, 2019, at Jordy's Spirits on Dewey Avenue in Rochester. Lott and his co-defendants, Wims and Kayla Dade, entered the store and demanded money from the employee at gunpoint. Lott assisted Wims in removing cash from the register drawer.

Lott's plea is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Violent Crimes Task Force, the New York State Police, and the Rochester Police Department.

Sentencing for Lott is scheduled for October 28, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. before Judge Wolford.
