Grimy Times Exclusive: A 31-year-old Mexican national has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for violating U.S. immigration laws.

The defendant, LUIS CHAVEZ-LOPEZ, was found guilty of illegal reentry of a removed alien, a federal offense. This crime occurred in the Eastern District of Louisiana on May 3, 2017.

LUIS CHAVEZ-LOPEZ, a native of Mexico, was previously removed from the United States on February 5, 2015 and subsequently reentered the country without permission.

The sentencing occurred on an unknown date, with United States District Court Judge Susie Morgan imposing the 37-month prison term followed by two years of supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans praised the work of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency in investigating this matter.
