Wolf Point Man Faces Justice for Heinous Crimes

A Wolf Point man convicted of rape, child abuse and assault crimes has been sentenced to a total of 20 years and 5 months in prison, followed by a total of 10 years of supervised release. Luke John Scott, Sr., 33, was found guilty by juries in two separate trials of aggravated sexual abuse, child abuse, and assault.

The crimes took place on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in 2017 and 2019. In the first case, Scott was convicted of aggravated sexual abuse and assault by striking, beating or wounding. He was sentenced to 10 years and 5 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release. In the second case, Scott was convicted of felony child abuse and assault resulting in serious bodily injury. He received a 10-year prison sentence and 3 years of supervised release.

The sentences were ordered to run consecutively, resulting in a total of 20 years and 5 months in prison. The terms of supervised release in the two cases were ordered to run concurrently, for a total of 10 years.

The government alleged that Scott approached a woman on the street in July 2017 and threatened to kill her before raping her. The victim reported the assault to law enforcement and was taken to the hospital. In the child abuse case, Scott allegedly abused and injured a minor child for approximately 8 months, culminating in a severe assault in March 2019.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Kalah A. Paisley prosecuted the cases, which were investigated by the FBI and Fort Peck Law Enforcement Services. Acting U.S. Attorney Leif M.
