Boise Man Pleads Guilty to Marijuana Distribution

BOISE – In a shocking turn of events, Luke Michael Marria, 19, of Boise, Idaho, pleaded guilty yesterday in the United States District Court to distributing marijuana.

According to court documents, the defendant admitted to distributing at least five kilograms, but not more than ten kilograms of marijuana from April 2012 to March 2014, in the Treasure Valley.

The charge of distributing marijuana is punishable by up to five years imprisonment, not more than three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.

Sentencing is set for October 16, 2014, before Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill.

Marria's offense was related to Operation Candle Wax, which resulted in the indictment of twelve other individuals for the distribution of oxycodone and heroin.

The indictment is the result of a joint investigation of the Organized Crime and Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF), which included the cooperative law enforcement efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Internal Revenue Service-Criminal Investigation, and U.S. Marshals Service.

The OCDETF program is a federal multi-agency, multi-jurisdictional task force that supplies supplemental federal funding to federal and state agencies involved in the identification, investigation, and prosecution of major drug trafficking organizations.
