Felon in Possession of a Firearm Lands Man Behind Bars

Alexandria, Va. – A Prince William County man has been arrested and charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Marc Allen Williams, 33, was taken into custody on Friday, after law enforcement executed a search warrant at an apartment in Triangle. During the search, officers discovered a handgun hidden in the toilet's flush tank.

Williams' history of 14 prior felony convictions caught up with him, as he now faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison if convicted. A federal district court judge will determine the actual sentence, taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

This case is part of Project Guardian, the Attorney General's initiative to reduce gun violence and enforce federal firearms laws. The program aims to enhance coordination among federal, state, local, and tribal authorities in investigating and prosecuting gun crimes.

G. Zachary Terwilliger, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Kevin Vorndran, Acting Special Agent in Charge, FBI Washington Field Office, made the announcement.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Katherine E. Rumbaugh is prosecuting the case. Williams is currently being held without bond, awaiting his next court appearance.

A copy of the press release can be found on the website of the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
