Polson Man Sentenced to Prison for Firearms Crime

A Polson man has been sentenced to three years in prison for a firearms crime, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.

Marc Anthony Friscia, 30, pleaded guilty in July to being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm.

Frisca was arrested in January 2018 after being pulled over in a traffic stop in Polson, Montana. At the time of the stop, Friscia was on probation and had an outstanding warrant.

During the search of the vehicle, officers found a .357 caliber pistol in a backpack in the backseat. The pistol had been reported stolen that month.

Frisca had been convicted of a felony in Montana and his right to possess a firearm had not been restored.

U.S. District Judge Donald W. Molloy presided over the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Cyndee Peterson prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Polson Police Department.

The case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime in the community.

The program focuses on enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partners with locally based prevention and reentry programs.

Frisca was sentenced to three years in prison and three years of supervised release.
