Marc Beaulieu, Credit Union Robbery, New Hampshire 2018

Published December 12, 2018

A brazen daylight robbery that shook the quiet streets of Somersworth, New Hampshire, ended in a five-year prison sentence for Marc Beaulieu, a 31-year-old from Caribou, Maine.

On November 18, 2016, Beaulieu walked into the Service Credit Union in Somersworth, handed a teller a note demanding 'all your money and no one will get hurt,' and made off with a sum of money that included a packet of bait bills. Surveillance footage captured Beaulieu fleeing the scene in a Subaru, wearing a distinctive camouflage jacket, dark hat, khaki pants, and bright red or orange sneakers.

Thanks to a tip from a concerned citizen and a video from a nearby convenience store, police were able to track down Beaulieu and make the arrest in Portsmouth on November 21, 2016. The evidence seized at the time of arrest included the camouflage jacket, the sneakers, and other items linking him to the crime.

Beaulieu pleaded guilty on April 27, 2018, and was subsequently sentenced to five years in federal prison.

'Robberies and other violent crimes present a substantial threat to public safety,' said U.S. Attorney Scott W. Murray. 'In order to protect our community, we work closely with our law enforcement partners to arrest, prosecute, and incarcerate those who commit these dangerous crimes.'

The Somersworth Police Department led the investigation, with assistance from the Portsmouth Police Department, the United States Marshals Service, the Strafford County Department of Corrections, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Donald A. Feith prosecuted the case.
