Armed Robbery Rocks Omaha Guitar Store
Omaha, Nebraska - In a shocking display of violence, Marco A. Lopez, 30, robbed the Ground Floor Guitar store in Omaha on July 1, 2022, leaving a trail of destruction and fear in his wake.
According to police, Lopez entered the store separately before displaying a black handgun and robbing the store owner of cash and property, including several guitars and at least one amplifier. Several customers were also robbed, instructed to 'hand over their wallets.'
Lopez then instructed all the victims to move down into the basement, locking them and a dog into a bathroom, threatening to 'shoot them' if they didn't comply. The victims eventually left the bathroom and called 911.
On July 2, 2022, Omaha Police responded to a tip related to a residential break-in, which identified Lopez as a suspect. Lopez and co-defendant Jorge Lopez, his cousin, were involved in the robbery. Investigators contacted and interviewed Jorge Lopez, who admitted to being involved in the robbery and that Lopez had taken the cash and guitars to Texas after the robbery.
Police also searched a truck used in the robbery, finding a wallet belonging to one of the victims and other materials linking the truck to the crime. Lopez was located and arrested in Texas before being extradited to Nebraska.
Marco A. Lopez was sentenced to 44 months' imprisonment for robbery and 91 months' consecutive for brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, resulting in a total sentence of 135 months in the Bureau of Prisons. There is no parole in the federal system. After his release from federal prison, Lopez will begin a 3-year term of supervised release.
