Omaha Man Sentenced for Trafficking Crimes

In a shocking turn of events, Marco A. Vallecillo, 26, of Omaha, Nebraska, was sentenced to 75 months in federal prison for possessing with intent to distribute marijuana and possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking crime. The sentence was handed down by Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter, Jr. in federal court in Omaha.

The charges stem from a controlled purchase of marijuana and a gun from Vallecillo at his home in Bellevue, Nebraska, on April 26, 2021. A confidential source arranged for the purchase, paying $1,000 for a Polymer 80 PF940C 9mm handgun and marijuana. The firearm was determined to be a 'ghost' gun, lacking a manufacturer's serial number and unregistered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Following the controlled purchase, the Omaha Police Department and FBI Safe Streets Task Force executed a search warrant on Vallecillo's home, seizing over 2.5 kilograms of marijuana, drug packaging materials, drug scales, and other narcotics-related paraphernalia. An SCCY 9mm handgun was also found within the residence.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Omaha Police Department as part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). The Department reinvigorated PSN in 2017 as part of its renewed focus on targeting violent criminals.

Vallecillo will begin a three-year term of supervised release after his release from prison. There is no parole in the federal system.

The case highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat firearm and drug trafficking in the Omaha area. The community can rest assured that those who engage in such activities will be held accountable.

The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the importance of collaboration between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in reducing violent crime and making our neighborhoods safer.
