Published June 4, 2020

Grimy Times Exclusives: Crack Cocaine and Fentanyl Trafficking Ring Busted in Ulster County.

A notorious drug trafficking conspiracy has been dismantled in Ulster County, New York, with the guilty plea of Margaret Vandyke, 58, of Ellenville. Vandyke, a key player in the organization, has admitted to selling over 300 grams of crack cocaine on behalf of the group between September 2017 and December 2018.

The announcement was made by the United States Attorney Grant C. Jaquith and other law enforcement officials, who have been working tirelessly to disrupt the operations of the organization. Vandyke's guilty plea is a significant blow to the group, which has been linked to the distribution of crack cocaine and fentanyl in the area.

Vandyke faces a minimum of 10 years and up to life in prison, a term of supervised release of at least 5 years and up to life, and a maximum fine of $10 million when she is sentenced by United States District Judge Mae A. D'Agostino on October 2, 2020. The defendant's sentence will be determined by the court based on the particular statute she is charged with violating, the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, and other factors.

The investigation into the conspiracy was led by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in conjunction with the Ulster County Sheriff's Office, the New York State Police, and the Village of Ellenville Police. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Emmet J. O'Hanlon.

Vandyke's guilty plea is just the tip of the iceberg in the fight against drug trafficking in Ulster County. As Grimy Times continues to follow this story, we will bring you updates on the status of the case and any further developments.
