A Des Moines County man has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy, the Grimy Times has learned.

According to court documents, Mark David Beckman, 32, of Odebolt, Iowa, was sentenced on February 11, 2019, to 87 months in federal prison for his involvement in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy in Sac and Ida counties.

Beckman, a convicted meth user, was also found to have possessed a firearm on November 9, 2017, while under a domestic abuse restraining order.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Ida County Sheriff’s Office, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, and DCI Criminalistics Laboratory.

Beckman is being held in the United States Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The court found Beckman to be involved in a conspiracy that distributed methamphetamine from about 2014 through December 2017.

As part of his sentence, Beckman must also serve four years of supervised release after his prison term.
