Bank Robber Strikes Again, Sentenced to 63 Months

A Wichita man is behind bars after being sentenced to 63 months in federal prison for robbing a bank that he targeted before eight years ago.

Mark Finnigin, 52, of Wichita, was sentenced on Wednesday for the heist, which occurred on July 22, 2014.

According to court documents, Finnigin entered the Emprise Bank in Wichita, located at 2323 S. Hydraulic, about 9:40 a.m. and demanded that a clerk hand over $10,000.

The clerk complied, putting the cash on the counter, but Finnigin took the money and fled the bank. Surveillance footage from a nearby store captured him getting into a minivan.

This is not Finnigin's first run-in with the law. In 2007, he pleaded guilty to robbing the same bank and was sentenced to 51 months in prison.

U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom commended the Wichita Police Department, the FBI, and Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Michelle Jacobs for their work on the case.

Finnigin's sentencing serves as a reminder that bank robbers will be held accountable for their crimes, no matter how long it takes.

Grissom's office says that bank robbery remains a serious crime with severe consequences, and they will continue to work tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice.
