Mark Hulett, Child Pornography, Vermont 2020

A Ferrisburgh man has been sentenced to serve 120 months in prison for his role in the possession of child pornography.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Vermont, Mark Hulett, 48, was sentenced in United States District Court in Rutland on January 16, 2020, to serve 120 months in prison after his guilty plea to one count of possession of child pornography.

Hulett was also ordered to serve a ten-year term of supervised release and pay a $100 special assessment.

The charges against Hulett stem from an investigation by the Vermont Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, which was alerted to a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) that a file depicting child pornography had been uploaded to an Internet search engine.

An investigation revealed that the file had been uploaded from Hulett’s residence in Ferrisburgh, and a search warrant was executed on May 14, 2019, resulting in the recovery of Hulett’s computer and phone.

A forensic search of those devices revealed that Hulett possessed over 2,000 images of child pornography, including images depicting prepubescent minor children.

This case is part of the U.S. Attorney's Office's commitment to protecting children from online exploitation and abuse as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to marshal federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet.
