Lockport Man Sentenced for Heroin Conspiracy Charge in Buffalo, NY
BUFFALO, N.Y.--A Lockport man has been sentenced to three years of supervised release, including six months of electronic monitoring, after being convicted of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and to distribute, heroin.
Mark Robertson, 41, was sentenced on an unspecified date for his involvement in a heroin trafficking operation in the Lockport area between July 2009 and August 2010. Robertson distributed heroin supplied by his co-defendants Damian Ard and John Cruz.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Catherine Baumgarten, the investigation into narcotics trafficking in Niagara County and the City of Buffalo was a joint effort between the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Niagara County Drug Taskforce.
Robertson was one of twenty-four defendants charged in connection with the investigation, with twenty-two of them having been convicted. The leader of the narcotics trafficking operation, Will Johnson, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on September 13, 2013.
The conviction is the result of an investigation by Special Agents of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration under the direction of Brian R. Crowell, and the Niagara County Sheriff’s Drug Task Force under the direction of Sheriff James Votour.
In addition to Robertson's sentence, a Buffalo woman was also sentenced for her role in a money laundering conspiracy. Danielle Barton, 31, was sentenced to 9 months in prison, 1 year of supervised release, and fined $5,000, for her involvement in making cash deposits of approximately $131,000 into her bank account, which were proceeds of Will Johnson’s drug activities.
The sentences were imposed by Chief Judge William M. Skretny of the United States District Court.
