Markis Dickerson, Possession of a Prohibited Object in Prison, New Hampshire 2019

CONCORD - Markis Dickerson, 24, of Berlin, pleaded guilty in federal court to possession of a prohibited object in prison, United States Attorney Scott W. Murray announced today.

Dickerson, a Berlin man, admitted to possessing a knife-like homemade weapon while an inmate at FCI-Berlin, New Hampshire.

According to court documents and statements made in court, on March 5, 2019, officers found the homemade weapon in Dickerson's possession. The weapon was approximately 5 inches in length. Inmates are prohibited from possessing weapons in prison.

Dickerson is scheduled to be sentenced on November 21, 2019.

“Armed inmates present an immediate threat to prison staff and the entire prison population,” said U.S. Attorney Murray. “In order to maintain the safety of all parties at FCI-Berlin, we will continue to prosecute inmates who possess weapons and other unauthorized items.”

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Prisons - FCI-Berlin. Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Krasinski is prosecuting the case.
