Virginia Man Pleads Guilty to Two Bank Robberies, Credit Union Heist.

NORFOLK, Va. - In a shocking turn of events, Marquis Larosa Buckley, 41, of Virginia Beach, pleaded guilty to armed robbery of a credit union and two banks in the city. According to court documents, Buckley conducted an armed robbery of a SPE Federal Credit Union in State College, Pennsylvania in August 2017.

Just a few months later, in October 2017, Buckley committed two more armed robberies at a Fulton Bank and a PNC bank in Virginia Beach. Buckley's luck ran out when he was arrested and later confessed to the crimes, revealing that he had robbed the credit union in Pennsylvania.

The 41-year-old's guilty plea comes after he previously pleaded guilty to the two armed bank robberies in Virginia Beach and testified against his co-conspirator, resulting in the conviction of the co-conspirator. Buckley now faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison when sentenced on October 3.

Actual sentences for federal crimes are typically less than the maximum penalties. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after taking into account the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

G. Zachary Terwilliger, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, and Thomas L. Chittum, III, Special Agent in Charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' (ATF) Washington Field Division, made the announcement after U.S. Magistrate Judge Lawrence R. Leonard accepted the plea. Assistant U.S. Attorney William D. Muhr is prosecuting the case.

The case is part of a larger effort to combat violent crime in the region. Buckley's guilty plea serves as a reminder that law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice.
