In the shadowy alleys of Washington D.C., a trend emerged that would shake the foundations of the city’s justice system. According to statistics, women were committing crimes at an alarming rate, outpacing their male counterparts in every category. Five times as many women were arrested for crimes of personal disorganization, including prostitution and drunkenness, while twice as many were taken in for crimes of acquisitiveness, such as robbery and larceny. The most striking figure, however, was the surge in crimes of passion, with twice as many women arrested for murder and assault.
