Matthew Dion, Child Pornography, New Hampshire 2020

A shocking case of child exploitation has shaken the quiet town of Bedford, New Hampshire. Matthew Dion, 48, a resident of the town, was arrested on June 23, 2020, for producing child pornography.

The charges against Dion stem from an investigation into allegations of hidden cameras in the bathroom of his home. A 16-year-old foreign exchange student residing with Dion discovered what he believed to be hidden cameras in the bathroom in April 2020. After obtaining a search warrant, police officers searched Dion's residence and vehicle, seizing various electronic devices, including a Micro SD card found underneath the seat of his car.

On the Micro SD card, officers found sexually explicit images of the 16-year-old student that had been taken in the bathroom while he showered. The images were taken in April 2020, according to the complaint filed in court.

Dion is charged with producing child pornography, a federal offense that carries serious penalties. The charges against him are only allegations, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The case was investigated by the Bedford Police Department, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Homeland Security Investigations. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Georgiana L. Konesky.

Dion is currently detained pending further proceedings. His scheduled appearance before a federal magistrate judge is a stark reminder of the severity of the charges against him.
