A LaPorte, Indiana man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for possessing child pornography. Matthew Frazier, 51, was found guilty of the crime following a one-day trial held in September 2022.

According to court documents, Frazier was on probation at the time for prior state court convictions of child exploitation and possession of child pornography. A search of his residence in September 2022 resulted in the recovery of an electronic device containing 18 photos and 18 videos of child sexual abuse material.

The case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations with assistance from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and the Michigan City Police Department. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Hannah T. Jones and Jerome W. McKeever.

Frazier was sentenced to 120 months in prison followed by 7 years of supervised release. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.
