Iowa Man Sentenced for Trafficking in Omaha

A devastating blow to the Omaha community, Matthew Podgorski, 23, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana. This sentence is a stark reminder of the harsh consequences of engaging in illicit activities.

On July 18, 2018, officers observed Podgorski driving a vehicle eastbound on I-80 in Omaha, traveling approximately 60 mph in a 50 mph construction zone. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, and upon approaching, they immediately smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of marijuana and two kilograms of cocaine.
