Max Reder, Stolen Firearms Sale, Alaska 2020

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A shocking crime has shaken the city of Anchorage as a local man has been indicted for selling stolen firearms. Max Reder, 37, knowingly sold at least nine stolen firearms in October 2020, violating federal law.

According to court documents, Reder also possessed at least 34 firearms, despite having two prior convictions for burglary in the second degree, a felony, in the State of Alaska. This conviction prohibits Reder from possessing firearms or ammunition.

The defendant is scheduled for his initial court appearance on Wednesday, August 24th, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kyle F. Reardon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska.

If convicted, Reder faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison on each count. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Anchorage Police Department are investigating the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney George Tran is prosecuting the case.
