Mayra Guadalupe Nunez, Methamphetamine Parcel Delivery Scheme, Nebraska 2023
A brazen methamphetamine parcel delivery scheme has landed a Nebraska woman behind bars for 70 months.
Mayra Guadalupe Nunez, a U.S. citizen, was sentenced to a term of imprisonment of 70 months, to be served in the U.S. Bureau of Prisons, by Chief United States District Judge John M. Gerrard, on May 2023. Nunez pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, a felony offense.
According to investigators with the Omaha Field Division of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, a FedEx delivery of packages containing approximately 10 pounds of methamphetamine was intercepted. The investigators successfully executed the delivery at a residence in Omaha, where Nunez and Jose Guzman-Ramirez received the packages.
Guzman-Ramirez, Nunez's accomplice, was sentenced in February 2019 to a term of imprisonment of 120 months. After serving his sentence, he will be removed to Mexico by immigration authorities.
During the execution of the delivery, investigators recovered the methamphetamine and more than $11,600.00 in United States Currency, which is subject to criminal forfeiture.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of methamphetamine and the importance of law enforcement efforts to combat its distribution and possession.
Mayra Guadalupe Nunez's sentence reflects the gravity of her crimes and serves as a warning to others who would engage in similar activities.
