Merrill Johnston, Methamphetamine Possession, Nebraska 2019

A North Platte man, Merrill Johnston, 38, has been sentenced to prison for his involvement in a significant methamphetamine operation in Nebraska.

According to authorities, Johnston was found to be in possession of 400 grams of actual methamphetamine in his apartment on September 13, 2019.

Officers from the North Platte Police Department were called to Johnston's residence for a domestic disturbance and subsequently obtained a search warrant.

During the search, police discovered 400 grams of methamphetamine, a firearm under the couch, and $7,100 in U.S. currency, which was seized and forfeited to the United States.

Chief United States District Judge Robert F. Rossiter Jr. handed down the sentence of 168 months' imprisonment, with no parole available in the federal system.

Following his release from prison, Johnston will begin a five-year term of supervised release.

The case was investigated by the North Platte Police Department.
