Meteo Running Enemy, Sexual Abuse of a Minor, South Dakota 2024

In a disturbing case of child abuse, Meteo Running Enemy, a 19-year-old man from St. Francis, South Dakota, was sentenced to four years in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release, and ordered to pay a $100 special assessment to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.

According to the investigation, Running Enemy engaged in a sexual act with a minor who had attained the age of 12 years but had not attained the age of 16 years in May 2023 in St. Francis.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Rosebud Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement Services, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Kirk Albertson prosecuting the case.

The conviction stems from an incident that occurred in May 2023, in which Running Enemy was accused of Sexual Abuse of a Minor.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006.

Running Enemy was immediately remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service after the sentencing, which took place on February 1, 2024.
