ALBANY, NEW YORK – A Hudson man has been handed a stiff sentence for his role in a major cocaine distribution operation. Micah Hines, 42, who also goes by the alias 'Water,' was sentenced to 71 months in prison, followed by four years of supervised release, for distributing more than 28 grams of cocaine base.
The case against Hines was brought by the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York, with assistance from the DEA's Capital District Drug Enforcement Task Force, which includes investigators from the Columbia County Sheriff's Office and Hudson Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Barnett handled the prosecution.
According to court documents, Hines admitted to selling approximately 40 grams of cocaine base on January 7, 2021, and another 52 grams of fentanyl, along with 28 grams of cocaine base, on January 13, 2021. The evidence against Hines was gathered through a thorough investigation by the New York State Police and the DEA.
Hines has a prior history of drug-related offenses, including three prior drug felony convictions and two prior firearm felony convictions. His lengthy prison sentence reflects the seriousness of his crimes and the need to protect the community from his illicit activities.
