Published November 18, 2014

BUFFALO, N.Y.--A shocking turn of events in the Bailey Boys investigation has led to the guilty plea of Michael Acoff, 24, of Buffalo, N.Y., for perjury.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Acoff lied to a federal grand jury in connection with the investigation, which began in 2012. The grand jury was looking into the murder of Harold McCain, who was killed on January 19, 2011. Acoff claimed that he had firsthand knowledge of the murder and even claimed to have received a call from the alleged killer.

However, investigators discovered that Acoff's claims were false. He never received a call from the alleged killer and did not provide any information about the murder. In fact, the indictment alleges that Acoff took actions to become a witness in the murder case, but his claims were entirely fabricated.

Acoff's guilty plea carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. His sentencing is scheduled for December 22, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. before Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.

The Bailey Boys Gang, led by Tyrone Brown, was indicted in August 2012 on charges related to the murder of Harold McCain. The investigation was a collaborative effort between the U.S. Attorney's Office, the Erie County District Attorney's Office, the Buffalo Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Safe Streets Task Force, the Erie County Sheriff's Office, and the Amherst Police Department.

Acoff's guilty plea is a significant development in the case, and it highlights the importance of truthful testimony in the pursuit of justice. The U.S. Attorney's Office will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those responsible for crimes are held accountable.

The investigation is ongoing, and the U.S. Attorney's Office will continue to work closely with law enforcement agencies to bring those responsible for crimes to justice.

In related news, the indictment of the Bailey Boys Gang members and associates remains ongoing, with several individuals still facing charges related to the murder of Harold McCain.
