Michael Allison, Methamphetamine Distribution, Iowa 2020

Published November 9, 2020

An Arizona man has been sent to federal prison for his involvement in a significant Iowa methamphetamine conspiracy.

Michael Allison, 54, from Phoenix, Arizona, received a 20-year prison term after pleading guilty to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine on May 18, 2020.

Allison's guilty plea came after evidence showed he was involved in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy from 2009 through April 2010 that distributed over 500 grams of pure methamphetamine.

The evidence further revealed that Allison, along with several others, was involved in a scheme that transported methamphetamine from Mexico to California to Iowa for further distribution.

Allison was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Linda Reade in Sioux City, Iowa, to 240 months' imprisonment. He must also serve a 3-year term of supervised release after the prison term.

There is no parole in the federal system. Allison is currently being held in the United States Marshal's custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Shawn S. Wehde and investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, Clear Lake Police Department, North Central Iowa Drug Task Force, and the Iowa Laboratory of Criminalistics Investigation.

The case file number is 11-3017. For more information, visit https://ecf.iand.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/login.pl.
