NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA – Michael Brooks, age 30, pleaded guilty on July 23, 2026, before U.S. District Judge Brandon S. Long to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana and tapentadol, in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(C), 841(b)(1)(D), and 846.

According to the press release, Brooks also pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute those same substances in violation of 21 U.S.C. §§ 841(a)(1), 841(b)(1)(C), and 841(b)(1)(D), as well as conspiracy to possess firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 924(o).

The charges against Brooks stem from an ongoing investigation into large-scale marijuana and tapentadol trafficking operations in the Middle District of Alabama.
