Michael Dean Elmshauser, Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine, Nebraska 2019
In a federal prison sentence, 33-year-old Michael Dean Elmshauser of Lincoln, Nebraska, was found guilty of his involvement in a conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute at least 500 grams of a mixture or substance containing methamphetamine.
U.S. Attorney Joe Kelly announced that Elmshauser will spend seven years (84 months) in federal prison and an additional four years on supervised release following his prison term.
The case against Elmshauser unfolded in the Lincoln area between January 2014 and December 2017, where he was responsible for distributing approximately 1.5 kilograms (three pounds) of methamphetamine.
Lincoln Police officers stopped Elmshauser and his co-defendant, Shannon Gillispie, in June 2017, after discovering a small amount of methamphetamine in Gillispie's purse. Elmshauser was also involved in the sale of small amounts of methamphetamine to an undercover officer on two occasions in November 2017.
Gillispie, 33, pleaded guilty to the conspiracy charge and is scheduled for sentencing in May 2019.
The Lincoln/Lancaster County Drug Task Force investigated this case.
Elmshauser's involvement in the conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine resulted in a severe sentence, as he will spend the next seven years in federal prison.
Following his prison sentence, Elmshauser will be under the supervision of law enforcement officials for four years, adding to the severity of the outcome.
