Michael J. Rolfe, Transporting a Child for Sexual Acts, New York 2023
A 48-year-old Gates, New York man was sentenced to 17 years in prison for his role in transporting a child under 12 years old for sexual acts, according to a recent sentencing hearing.
Michael J. Rolfe, who was convicted in [missing date] of the transportation of a minor, received a 17-year prison term and 20 years of supervised release from U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci, Jr.
The defendant, a long distance truck driver, took the child on a trip from Rochester, New York to locations in Texas in August 2012.
Rolfe engaged in multiple instances of sexual acts with the child while traveling outside of New York.
This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The investigation was led by Special Agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent In Charge James C. Spero, along with Investigators from the New York State Police, under the direction of Superintendent Joseph D’Amico.
Rolfe's sentencing comes after he was previously convicted on federal charges of possessing child pornography while serving in the U.S. Navy in 2002.
