Methamphetamine Conspirator Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison

A federal drug case took a turn for the worse for Michael Lamar Sweat, 38, of Wilmer, Alabama. Judge William H. Steele imposed a sentence of 121 months imprisonment on Sweat, who was convicted of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine and possession of a List I chemical with knowledge it would be used to manufacture a controlled substance.

The crimes were committed in June 2014. Sweat was found guilty of the two charges by a federal jury on that date. Judge Steele ordered that the sentences run concurrently on the two counts.

As part of the sentence, Sweat will serve three years supervised release after he comes out of prison. He will also have to pay $200 in special mandatory assessments. Furthermore, Sweat will undergo testing and treatment for drug abuse during his supervision. No fine was imposed.

The case was investigated by the Mobile County Sheriff's Office. It was prosecuted in the United States Attorney's Office by Assistant United States Attorney Gloria Bedwell.

Michael Lamar Sweat's crimes have resulted in a lengthy prison sentence. As he begins his 121-month imprisonment, Sweat must come to terms with the consequences of his actions.
