Mickey Roy Anderson, Sr., First Degree Murder, Arizona 2019

A deadly act of violence shook the community in Parker, Arizona when Mickey Roy Anderson, Sr., 30, walked into a residence and shot a woman in the face on January 23, 2014. The victim, a member of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, died almost instantly.

Anderson's motive for the heinous crime was rooted in anger towards the victim for purchasing drugs from another dealer in the community. The Colorado River Indian Tribes Police Department and the Bureau of Indian Affairs led the investigation into the murder, uncovering a tangled web of deceit and violence.

A federal jury found Anderson guilty of first degree murder, use of a firearm during a crime of violence, and burglary of a residential structure on March 5, 2019. This marked a turning point in the case, as the guilty verdict paved the way for the sentencing phase.

On June 18, 2019, U.S. District Judge Douglas L. Rayes handed down a life sentence to Anderson. In addition to the life sentence, Anderson was also ordered to serve 10 years in prison, consecutive to the life sentence, and 7 years in prison, concurrent to the life sentence.
