Felony Charge Lands Providence Man 7 Years in Federal Prison
A federal judge handed down a significant sentence to a convicted felon for illegally possessing a firearm in Providence, Rhode Island.
Momoh Fahnbulleh, 38, of Providence, was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm, announced United States Attorney Peter F. Neronha and Providence Police Chief Colonel Hugh T. Clements, Jr.
The sentence was handed down by U. S. District Court Chief Judge William E. Smith on March 2, 2015.
Fahnbulleh was also ordered to serve three years supervised release upon completion of his prison term.
The case began in October 2013 when Providence Police sought and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Fahnbulleh’s residence. During the search, detectives and officers seized a loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun, along with 15 rounds of ammunition in the magazine and one in the pistol’s firing chamber.
Additionally, law enforcement seized numerous items used in the packaging and distribution of cocaine during the investigation.
Fahnbulleh has been detained since his arrest on October 3, 2013.
According to court records, Fahnbulleh was previously convicted in Rhode Island state court on multiple felony charges, including drug trafficking and firearm charges.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Milind M. Shah.
Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) assisted Providence Police in the investigation of this matter.
