Convicted: Morrey Selck, Assaulting a Federal Employee

A federal jury in Sacramento, California, found 55-year-old Morrey Selck guilty of assaulting a federal employee.

According to court documents and trial testimony, on March 17, 2017, Selck sprayed a letter carrier with dog repellent, followed him into the street, and kicked mail and a phone down the street. A neighbor's surveillance camera captured the entire incident.

The U.S. Postal Inspection Service investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Cameron L. Desmond and Quinn Hochhalter are prosecuting the case.

Selck is scheduled to be sentenced by U.S. Magistrate Judge Carolyn K. Delaney on December 2, 2017. He faces a maximum statutory penalty of one year in prison and a $100,000 fine.

The safety of Postal Service employees is the top priority, said San Francisco Division Inspector in Charge Rafael Nunez of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.
