Mouanda Mpongo, Visa Fraud, Alabama 2023

A citizen from the Congo, Mouanda Mpongo, was sentenced and fined for committing visa fraud, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice's USAO Middle District of Alabama.

On June 29, 2023, Mpongo pleaded guilty to one count of visa fraud, which is a felony offense. The defendant was sentenced to 12 months of probation and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000.

The charges against Mpongo stemmed from an investigation by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the U.S. Department of State's Diplomatic Security Service (DSS).
