Multiple Businesses and Residences Targeted in West Tennessee, Drug Trafficking, Tennessee 2013

MEMPHIS, TN - In a major crackdown on drug trafficking in West Tennessee, federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies executed arrest and search warrants at multiple businesses and residences throughout the region.

The operation, led by U.S. Attorney Edward L. Stanton III, targeted suspected individuals and entities involved in narcotics trafficking. Those arrested include several individuals and business owners, with charges expected to be filed in the coming days.

The exact nature of the charges and the number of individuals arrested were not disclosed, but law enforcement officials confirmed that the operation was focused on disrupting the flow of illicit narcotics in West Tennessee. The investigation, which has been ongoing for several months, involved multiple agencies and resulted in the execution of warrants at several locations.

Shelby County District Attorney General Amy Weirich and Resident Agent-in-Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration's Memphis office Brian Chambers were also involved in the operation.
