Nicholas Silva-Shaffer, Hobbs Act Robbery, Pennsylvania 2024

Nicholas Silva-Shaffer, a 29-year-old man from Dauphin County, has been indicted for Hobbs Act robbery in a brazen heist at a Rite Aid store in Dauphin County.

According to United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam, on or about September 16, 2024, Silva-Shaffer approached an employee of the store and demanded money, claiming he had a gun.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and Assistant U.S. Attorney K. Wesley (Wes) Mishoe is prosecuting the case.

The maximum penalties under federal law for the charge against Silva-Shaffer are 20 years imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, a fine, and special assessment.

Indictments are only allegations. All persons indicted are presumed to be innocent unless and until found guilty in court.

Silva-Shaffer's case is just the latest example of the ongoing struggle against violent crime in Dauphin County.

A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
