Nickolas K. Parsons, Child Pornography, Oregon 2020

Published June 7, 2022

A 27-year-old man from The Dalles, Oregon, has been sentenced to federal prison for his role in distributing and possessing thousands of images depicting child sexual abuse.

Nickolas K. Parsons, 27, received a 90-month prison sentence, followed by 10 years of supervised release.

According to investigators, Parsons was identified as a Twitter user who sent MEGA links containing child pornography in late 2019. MEGA is an encrypted online file-sharing service. After tracing the user's account to Parsons' residence, authorities executed a federal search warrant in March 2020 and seized his mobile phone.

Parsons admitted to viewing child pornography online and provided his MEGA account information to investigators. The account was later found to contain thousands of files containing child pornography.

On June 9, 2020, a federal grand jury in Portland returned a two-count indictment charging Parsons with transporting and possessing child pornography. He pleaded guilty to both charges on February 22, 2022.

This case was investigated by Homeland Security Investigations and prosecuted by Natalie K. Wight, Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon.

Avoiding child pornography is crucial in preventing the exploitation and abuse of children. If you have any information about the physical or online exploitation of children, contact HSI at (866) 347-2423 or submit a tip online at www.ice.gov/tips.
