Noah Edwin Anthony, Unregistered Short Barrel Rifle, North Carolina 2022
A Fort Bragg soldier, Noah Edwin Anthony, 23, has pleaded guilty to possessing an unregistered short-barrel rifle in North Carolina. The plea bargain could land him up to 10 years in prison when sentenced later this year.
According to court documents, Anthony was attempting to enter Fort Bragg on March 3, 2022, when gate officers conducting random vehicle inspections discovered a loaded handgun in the center console of his vehicle. The handgun, identified as a 'Glock Like' 9mm privately made handgun, commonly known as a Ghost Gun, had no serial number.
When asked if the handgun was registered, Anthony replied that he didn't have any paperwork for it. Military Police arrived and located two extended magazines, ammunition, as well as an American flag with a Swastika and other Nazi-type patches in his vehicle.
A further search of Anthony's room on Fort Bragg turned up a 3D printed, FGC-9 rifle with no serial number, a lower receiver, magazines for various firearms, white supremacist literature, t-shirts, and patches, as well as several electronic devices. The FGC-9 firearm was submitted to the ATF Firearms Laboratory, which confirmed that it was a short-barrel rifle less than 16 inches in violation of the National Firearms Act (NFA).
The FGC-9 lacked manufacturer's marks of identification or a serial number and thus had not been registered as required under the NFA. Anthony pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm not registered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
Michael Easley, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina, made the announcement after Chief U.S. District Judge Richard E. Myers II accepted the plea. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Army Criminal Investigation Division (CID), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) are investigating the case, while Assistant U.S. Attorney Gabriel J. Diaz is prosecuting the case.
