Convicted Felon Sentenced to 60 Months in Prison for Firearm Charge
BUFFALO, N.Y.--A Williamsville man has been sentenced to 60 months in prison for possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
Norman Charnock, 51, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara today. Charnock was convicted of possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.
On August 7, 2013, federal and state law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Charnock's Williamsville residence and found a rifle, 36 rounds of ammunition, an assortment of prescription drugs, and $1,400 in cash all stored in a safe in the residence. They also located a loaded revolver in the garage.
The search warrant was part of an investigation into Charnock's activities, which revealed that he had sold prescription drugs to a confidential informant three weeks prior to the search warrant.
The investigation was conducted by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Acting Special Agent in Charge James S. Higgins, New York Field Division, and by deputies of the United States Marshals Service, under the direction of Charles Salina.
The sentence is the culmination of an 18-month investigation into Charnock's activities.
Charnock's sentence is set to begin immediately.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Frank T. Pimentel.
Williamsville is a suburb of Buffalo, New York.
