Novak Ciurar, Illegal Entry, Maine 2018

Bangor, Maine - A Romanian man has pleaded guilty to entering the United States without proper documents and has been sentenced to time served.

Novak Ciurar, 30, of Romania, entered the US on March 31, 2018, at Hodgdon, Maine, through a location not designated for entry.

US Border Patrol agents located Ciurar shortly after his entry and found that he did not have any immigration documents that would allow him to remain in the US.

Ciurar was sentenced by Magistrate Judge John C. Nivison to time served, which is four days. He has now been placed in proceedings to remove him from the US.

The investigation was conducted by the US Border Patrol, the mobile, uniformed law enforcement arm of US Customs and Border Protection within the Department of Homeland Security.

According to court records, Ciurar is a citizen of Romania and did not have any immigration documents that would allow him to remain in the US.
