Odel Taitt, Bank Robbery, New Jersey 2011
A Pennsylvania man has admitted to robbing two banks, one in New Jersey and one in Pennsylvania, in October 2011, according to federal authorities.
Odel Taitt, 33, of Denver, Pa., pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Mary L. Cooper to two counts of bank robbery.
The charges to which Taitt pleaded guilty are each punishable by a maximum potential penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Taitt admitted to robbing the National Penn Bank in Wyomissing, Pa., on Oct. 6, 2011, wearing sunglasses and a baseball cap. He presented the teller with a note demanding money and stating that he had a gun.
On Oct. 25, 2011, Taitt entered the PNC Bank in Tewksbury Township, N.J., wearing sunglasses and a gray, derby hat. He presented the teller with a note asking for $20, $50 and $100 bills and again threatened that he had a gun.
Taitt received the money and fled the bank. He was apprehended later that day in Hunterdon County.
Taitt is currently in federal custody pending sentencing, which is scheduled for July 16, 2013. The government is represented by Deputy U.S. Attorney Nelson S.T. Thayer Jr. and Assistant U.S. Attorney John E. Clabby.
