A Wilson, Michigan man has been sentenced to 288 months (24 years) in federal prison for engaging in sexual contact with a child under 12 years of age.

Patrick Roy Wandahsega, 40, was sentenced on October 27, 2017 for the crime that occurred in December 2015.

The incident took place at his home on the Hannahville reservation, where a six-year-old child was sexually abused. The victim later reported the abuse to relatives and a physician, who then informed the authorities.

After an extensive investigation by the Hannahville Tribal Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a federal grand jury indicted Wandahsega on two counts: Aggravated Sexual Abuse of a Child and Abusive Sexual Contact Involving Young Children.

On October 27, 2017, a jury found Wandahsega guilty of the second charge.
