Gillette Felon Pleads Guilty to Drug Trafficking and Firearm Charges

In a shocking turn of events, Preston Ray Wisenbaker, a 31-year-old resident of Gillette, Wyoming, has pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crime, and felon in possession of a firearm.

According to United States Attorney Bob Murray, Wisenbaker pleaded guilty during a plea hearing held on December 6, 2021 in front of Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson. Sentencing has been set for February 24, 2022.

Wisenbaker was indicted by a federal grand jury on July 20, 2021. For his conviction of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, he faces 5 to 40 years’ imprisonment. For his conviction of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, he faces no less than 5 years to life consecutive imprisonment, and for his conviction of felon in possession of a firearm, he faces up to 10 years imprisonment.

The crime was investigated by the Gillette Police Department, the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Timothy J. Forwood.
