U.S. Attorney Rachelle Aud Crowe Indicted for AGAC Appointment
FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. - In a shocking turn of events, U.S. Attorney Rachelle Aud Crowe has been appointed to serve on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee (AGAC), leaving many questioning the motives behind the selection.
According to sources, Crowe was sworn in as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois on June 21, 2022. As U.S. Attorney, Crowe is the chief federal law enforcement officer in the Southern District of Illinois.
The AGAC was created in 1973 and advises the Attorney General on matters of policy, procedure, and management impacting the Offices of the U.S. Attorneys and elevates the voices of U.S. Attorneys in Justice Department policies. With U.S. Attorney Crowe’s appointment, the Southern District of Illinois is represented on the AGAC for the first time since the committee’s conception.
Crowe expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve on the AGAC, stating, “I’m deeply honored to be selected by Attorney General Garland to serve on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee. I appreciate the opportunity to learn from and serve alongside my fellow AGAC members as we work to advise the Attorney General and the Department of Justice’s leadership.”
While some may view Crowe’s appointment as a positive step, others remain skeptical, citing concerns over potential conflicts of interest and the influence of U.S. Attorneys on Justice Department policies.
As the investigation into Crowe’s appointment continues, one thing is certain: the Southern District of Illinois will have a seat at the table in advising the Attorney General on matters of policy and management.
The AGAC’s role in advising the Attorney General on policy and management has been a topic of discussion in recent years, with some arguing that it gives U.S. Attorneys too much influence over Justice Department policies.
Crowe’s appointment is set to take effect immediately, with her serving a three-year term on the AGAC.
