Rafael De Jesus-Ribeiro, Unlawful Reentry, Massachusetts 2025

Brazilian national Rafael De Jesus-Ribeiro, 39, has pleaded guilty in federal court in Boston to illegally reentering the United States after deportation.

According to the indictment, De Jesus-Ribeiro was deported from the United States on July 17, 2019, after illegally crossing the border in Texas and being stopped by Border Patrol, to whom he initially provided false documentation.

De Jesus-Ribeiro was residing in Framingham, Massachusetts, when he was charged with one count of unlawful reentry of a deported alien. U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani scheduled sentencing on June 9, 2025.

The charge of unlawful reentry of a deported alien provides for a sentence of up to two years in prison, one year of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. The defendant is subject to deportation proceedings upon completion of an imposed sentence.

United States Attorney Leah Foley and Patricia H. Hyde, Field Office Director, Boston, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's Enforcement and Removal Operations made the announcement today. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric L. Hawkins of the Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.

The case against De Jesus-Ribeiro was brought as part of a federal investigation into immigration crimes. De Jesus-Ribeiro is currently being held without bail and is awaiting sentencing.

The indictment states that De Jesus-Ribeiro illegally reentered the United States without permission sometime after his July 2019 removal.
