Armed Robber Targets Chinese Restaurants in Hampton Roads

A sinister plot to rob Chinese food restaurant employees in Hampton Roads has come to an end. Raheem Lorinzo Lacey, 23, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his involvement in three armed robberies that took place in January and August of 2017.

According to court documents, Lacey served as the get-away driver during the robberies. His co-conspirators waited outside of the restaurants and, under cover of darkness, followed the victims to their home. Lacey and his accomplices ambushed the victims while waving handguns and demanding money and property.

Between July 28 and August 14, 2017, Lacey and his co-conspirators robbed six victims, stealing at least $4,500 in cash and valuables. The brazen crimes left a trail of fear and devastation in their wake, but authorities were able to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel T. Young. U.S. District Judge Raymond A. Jackson accepted the plea, ensuring that Lacey would face the consequences of his actions.

Lacey's sentence serves as a reminder that those who engage in violent crimes will be held accountable. The community can rest a little easier knowing that this individual is no longer a threat.
